Chandubi Lake, Assam
“Chandubi Lake, located in Kamrup district of Assam, is a picturesque and serene tourist destination that fills me with pride. This natural lake, formed due to an earthquake in 1897, is surrounded by lush green hills and forests. Visitors can enjoy boating, fishing, and bird watching in the tranquil surroundings of the lake.
What makes Chandubi Lake unique is its focus on sustainable tourism. The local community has taken several initiatives to preserve the natural beauty of the lake and promote eco-friendly tourism. The lake is surrounded by several homestays that offer visitors a chance to experience the local culture and cuisine.
Moreover, the community has also set up waste management systems and promotes the use of renewable energy sources such as solar power. These efforts have not only helped in preserving the natural beauty of the lake but have also generated employment opportunities for the locals. Chandubi Lake serves as a model for sustainable tourism and is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to experience the beauty of Assam”

Uttara Kannada District, Karnataka
“Karnataka is a prosperous state that holds many worlds within itself.
Karnataka is also rich in tourism destinations. Bangalore, Mysore, Hampi, Kodagu, Mangalore are already famous names that are on everyone’s lips. But each district in Karnataka also has amazing tourist spots. It has its own specialty and culture. Amidst all these, the district with diversity is Uttara Kannada district.
Uttara Kannada district is one of the largest districts of the state and has abundant natural resources. The district with its varied geographical features comprises of dense forests, perennial rivers and abundant flora and fauna along with about 140 km. It has a long coastline. It has Belgaum and Goa states in the north, Dharwad district in the east, Shimoga and Udupi districts in the south. Bounded by the Arabian Sea on the west. In the district with a total land area of 10.25 lakh hectares, 8.28 hectares are covered by forests. Only 1.2 lakh hectares of land (about 10%) is under agriculture and horticulture. The district has 12 taluks namely Karwar, Ankola, Kumata, Bhatkala, Honnavar, Siddapur, Shirsi, Yallapur, Mundagoda, Zoida, Haliyala, Dandeli.
Uttara Kannada district is the only district that has all three areas of Coastal, Upland and Plains. This district, which has the most natural beauty and amazing nature in its lap, is as beautiful to see as the love and trust shown by the people here is also amazing. In Karnataka, the capital of the Kadamba dynasty, the first Kannada dynasty, was Banavasi in Uttara Kannada district. Thus with many places with historical background, many waterfalls that can pose challenges to trekkers, hilly, mountainous regions with thick forests, wide coastal beaches like Gokarna, Murudeshwar, Karwar which are famous all over the world attract everyone. Even though many hydroelectric power generation projects, Kaiga nuclear power plants and other environmentally harmful projects have hit this district, the culture and ideology of the people here are working to protect the environment. Mrs. Tulsi Gowda, who has planted millions of saplings and received the Padma Shri award for her environmental concern, is a shining example of the lives of the people of this district.”
