Mr. Sreejith O. P., a distinguished meteorologist, leads the Climate Monitoring and Prediction Group at the Climate Research and Services (CRS) division of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Pune. With over 21 years of experience, he has spearheaded critical advancements in seasonal climate forecasting, dynamic prediction systems, and gridded data product development, contributing to India’s meteorological research and services. Since assuming his current role in 2019, Mr. Sreejith has driven efforts to enhance climate monitoring capabilities and provide actionable insights for resilience against climate variability.
Mr. Sreejith holds an MSc in Meteorology from Cochin University of Science and Technology. His early career as a Research Fellow at the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), Goa, saw him investigating air-sea interactions over the Bay of Bengal using remote sensing. Over the years, he has also managed aviation meteorological operations and state-level meteorological centers, including those at Jaipur’s Sanganer International Airport. Mr. Sreejith’s robust leadership reflects his dedication to improving India’s weather and climate prediction systems and fostering sustainable development through innovative meteorological research.
